Why do i pay a Core Surcharge?

KR £450 – 9A £750.All our engines require a Core in exchange. This must be a serviceable unit, and replicate what you are receiving, but in a used format. Generally, these cores are returned to us upon receipt of your new engine as you can take advantage of the Pallet frame used to send your new engine. The costs of its return are your responsibility. These are deducted from the Core surcharge refund if you would like us to organise its return. It must be drained of Oil. If you would like to send us a core earlier, that is fine. For international buyers, it is generally un-economical for you to send us a Core. The advice is to pay the surcharge, and sell your old unit in your home country.Upon receipt of an acceptable core, your surcharge will be refunded. If components are damaged, or aftermarket, used OEM items will be sourced, and the costs deducted accordingly.

Can you recondition my original engine?

Yes. Bare in mind the lead time commences from receiving your unit. Furthermore, are you certain it is the original engine from your vehicle? Without a Heritage certificate, it is generally rare to be able to confirm. Engine Numbers. There is a 50% chance these will be hard to read/vanish, after the Blocks go through the Acid dipping process. It really does depend on the condition of the block, and as to how long it needs to spend in the tank. Rule of thumb is it is much quicker, and more efficient to use your old engine as the core exchange.

What is Super-finishing?

You can read more about this process HERE. In real terms, if a crank is installed and has not been superfinished, it can be turned with your hand (pre piston install). If it has been super finished, you can turn it with your Pinkie! Imagine all of the friction surfaces being like this. Certainly a process we would recommend.

Can i choose the colouring of the Manifold Lettering?

Yes. Let us know. The standard process is OEM Blue.

What is a Black Edition?

The post reconditioning processes are different, and most of the components are Powder Coated Crinkle, and Gloss Black. Zinc items are coloured Silver, and Stainless ironmongery is used. Ultimately it takes us more time to conduct this process, and with additional sub-contracting costs. The published pictures are the best representation of what you receive.

Do you offer an Install Service?

Yes. Cost of which is £995, which includes removal, re-fit and setup/road testing. Please note, if you would like us to recondition the engine thats in your car currently, we will need this in advance to re-build.

What is the standard Warranty?

12 Months, 12,000 miles. Extended warranties offer more peace of mind. Conditions of use apply of course.

What if I want to fit electronic Ignition?

We offer this service on the 9A Engines. Bare in mind you will loose the original Inlet Manifold, so your plan must be to further install Carbs or ITB’s. Coil Ignition is driven by independent software, and allows a greater flexibility in tuning. This is not included in the install.

Do i really need to balance the rotating assembly?

No. But, you’ve come this far… Assemblies are balanced within 0.01g. Factory engine tolerances are always out, so it can be improved upon. Furthermore, as in the case with our 2.1 9A Engines, the fitting of different components will send it out of balance. It will still be fine to use, but, balanced engines run more productively, and somewhat smoother higher up the Rev range.
